Armor Up: Standing Firm in a Fearful World

When the World Feels Unstable

I’m not sure about you, but this world feels like it’s spinning out of control. Government instability, violence, wars, persecution, and financial hardship. It's like the future feels uncertain for many. Businesses are closing. Dreams are being crushed. Hope is fading away daily. This can cause confusion, anxiety, and deep uncertainty.

The Silent Battle of the Mind

Have you ever noticed that whenever we find ourselves in these moments of our lives, doubt begins to creep in? Lies start to infiltrate our minds and speak negativity into our thoughts. Fear tells us “what if,” while faith whispers, “even if.”

I know Jesus was scared of the cross. He had a moment of fear and extreme physical, emotional, and mental anxiety. While He knew His future, we often don’t, and that’s what leads us to stress and worry.

But fear isn’t weakness. We are human, and it’s normal to be afraid. Pretending to be fearless 24/7 can take a toll on you. Even your favorite “fearless” influencer faces their own battles.

The Enemy Strikes When You’re Weak

Whenever we catch ourselves in these vulnerable moments, have you noticed that’s when Satan hits the hardest? He waits until we’re weary to attack. I’ve learned this through sermons, reading Scripture, and experience, and maybe you can relate.

Satan whispers lies and doubts into your mind. He did it to Jesus, and he’ll do it to you. Lies are his greatest weapon, but remember, light must shine in darkness for truth to be revealed.

So, what does God say when we’re under attack?

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11)

When we stand on God’s truth, He does the rest. He holds us together. God will not let the enemy destroy His children because we belong to Him. God warns us of the enemy’s tricks so we can stand firm. If we ignore those warnings, we leave ourselves vulnerable. However, when we stay alert, we stand unshaken.

The Christian Life Isn’t Easy, But It’s Worth It

Being a Christian doesn’t mean we avoid hardship. In fact, we often face more. Not because of punishment, but because we have a different future than the enemy. Satan knows he can never have redemption or forgiveness as we do, and that drives his attacks. He’ll do anything to shake your faith and make you doubt God.

But God reminds us to, "Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” (Psalm 31:24). “What the enemy meant for evil, God meant for good.” (Genesis 50:20).

Every hardship, every trial, every painful moment can become a seed for growth when rooted in God’s truth. His Word gives us hope on our weakest days and strength to keep moving forward when quitting feels easier.

When You Feel Like Giving Up

I’ll be honest, I’ve had moments when I wanted to give up everything. I was exhausted and ready to quit, but just when I felt empty, Scripture reminded me that God still had me in His hands.

Verses like these became my strength:

  1. Psalm 31:24: Be strong and take heart.
  2. Judges 6:12: The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.
  3. Isaiah 43:1–5: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you.
  4. Romans 8:11: The Spirit who raised Jesus lives in you.
  5. Psalm 46:10: Be still and know that I am God.
  6. 1 Samuel 2:30: Those who honor Me I will honor.

Hope Beyond the Storm & Keep Your Eyes on God

Like you, I wish we didn’t experience tough days. I wish we weren’t spiritually attacked or emotionally exhausted, but God promised to make all things new. One day, there will be a new heaven and a new earth. A place where fear, pain, and anxiety no longer exist.

Until that day comes, keep moving forward, even if it’s just one step at a time. Keep your eyes on God, because He is always keeping His eyes on you. He hasn’t forgotten you.
He hasn’t forsaken you, and He never will.
