Don't Forget to Live a Little

While I enjoy working out, I still need to live, and so should you. Before you change your perspective or image of me, I encourage you to listen to what I have to say. Yes, I love fitness. I got into it at a young age; however, I still need to focus on another essential thing, life. Many times, people get too focused on their goals that they forget to enjoy what many people don't have. Once again, that is life. Don't misunderstand me, I'm a firm believer in obtaining/achieving our goals. We can do whatever we want; however, we can't forget to live a little. Once again, there's nothing wrong with chasing your goals, but sometimes we must take a breather and enjoy life. We should live a little. If you're a fan of movies like me, you probably saw the movie "Passengers''. In this movie, Arthur (Michael Sheen) shares with Jim (Chris Pratt) one of the best pieces of advice you can obtain in life.

I enjoy going out. I like going to the beach, hanging out with my friends, going to shows, a date, family gatherings, special events, etc. While I developed a disciplined mindset regarding my goals, I sometimes need to relax and enjoy life. For example, if I'm doing one of my programs, I follow everything I teach, but if I go over my calories or skip a gym session because I have a wedding to attend, that's ok. Life comes first. I'll put it this way, let's say it's graduation. Not only is that a massive accomplishment; however, I know you will celebrate. That means food, drinks, and desserts. You can attempt to hit your calories, but what happens when you reach your limit and there's still food? What are you going to do when all your family and friends are there bringing you these snacks? Are you going to say, "sorry, I can't; I need to stick to my calories." I'm not sure about you, but I wouldn't do that.

Again, if you want to stay disciplined, that's great, but did you know you can get back on track the following day? When I got my bachelor's degree, I celebrated my accomplishment with my family, and believe me, I had a lot of food. In other words, I went over my calories by 1500, but I got back on track the next day. Was I mad? Not one bit because I still enjoyed life. Nonetheless, living a little still resonates with people facing a tough season or moments during their daily lives. I know life can be harsh or unfair. We all face those moments where we don't know what's next, or what to do, but we can't lose ourselves in those painful temporary moments. In other words, live a little.

I can share with you many moments when I was mentally and emotionally struggling with life; however, if I did, this blog would be a novel. Nevertheless, I remember when I was getting mentally drained by personal situations. I was frustrated and tired. I didn't know what to do next. The next thing you know, I purchased a ticket to New York, bought tickets to see my favorite band, and lived a little. While I spent time with my friends and family, I created new memories by living a little. Perhaps you can resonate with this. Perhaps you can't. Nonetheless, if you're facing a tough situation in life, allow me to share with you today that it won't last forever. Every season is temporary. It's almost over.

What am I supposed to do if I'm waiting for this season to be over? If you're asking this question daily, I want to tell you to live a little. Just live a little. How? Do something different. If you've been desperate to visit a state or country, I encourage you to book your ticket and live a little. If you've been dying to go to the beach due to school or work stress, pack your things, and go to the beach. Live a little. If no one is hiring you, start your own business. Live a little. If you're tired of working at a place where no one sees your potential, leave the job, and do something where everyone will see your gifts.

Sometimes doing the most random things are the best ways to live life. It doesn't matter if you're going dressed up to Walmart, living a little is one of the best ways of living a mental, physical, spiritual, financial, and emotional life. We all have one life. Use it wisely, but once again, live a little.
